our mission.
We partner with teens and their families to strengthen connection, enhance self-understanding, and cultivate compassion.
Through individual & group therapy and collaborative parent workshops we provide an environment for teens in which their development is understood, their challenges are validated and their stories are celebrated.
hey, i’m rachel.
I created Richmond Teen Therapy as a response to the very real needs of adolescents and what I viewed as the lack of resources available to support the nuanced and unique experience of adolescence.
By nature, teens are deep feelers who are too often misunderstood or told they are the problem. I feel strongly that therapy for young people should have deep roots in an understanding of adolescent development that seeks to affirm and support rather than diminish and pathologize.
I believe that we cannot change behavior until we shift perception and so often the perception we have of teens in our world is that their feelings are a problem.
The mental health crisis in teens is significant and requires us to act swiftly, but also with intention and care. My hope is that Richmond Teen Therapy can be a trusted resource for parents and providers when a teen whom they love needs support.
