FAQs

  • We may be biased, but we feel that all adolescents can benefit from therapy! In a phase of life that can feel disorienting and wrought with anxiety and overwhelm, therapy can be a dedicated space to grow in our understanding of self.

That said, we strongly encourage parents to explore individual counseling for their teen if they are experiencing depression, anxiety, or other "big emotions" which are impacting their ability to function in other areas like interpersonal relationships, academics/school. We also encourage teens participate in therapy if negative self-talk and negative core beliefs are the tape that is playing in their mind.

  • Richmond Teen Therapy provides individual and group psychotherapy as well as parent consultation sessions.

We do not provide educational testing or medication management but can support our clients with these referrals should they be helpful.

  • Standard Rate: $150 (50 minutes)

I also partner with Headway in order to bill Anthem BCBS.

  • A SuperBill is essentially a receipt that we can provide for you to submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.

A SuperBill has a bunch of information: client and provider info, session and payment stuff, and diagnostic info needed by insurance companies to consider reimbursement. some insurance plans offer out-of-network reimbursement.

    Heres how that works:

    • Ask your insurance company if your plan has out-of-network coverage

    • If they do, ask about the reimbursement rate

    • Let your therapist know you will need SuperBills and they will chat with you about this process

    • If needed, we can send along automatic superbills at the end of each month for you to submit electronically or by mail.

  • That depends! We recommend scheduling weekly sessions with your therapist for a minimum of 6-8 sessions to support with building of rapport and get the ball rolling! After that, we will check-in regularly and explore what frequency makes the most sense.

  • Yes! As an adolescent therapist, confidentiality is essential to the therapeutic relationship. Your therapist will explain this to you more, but everything that is said in the therapy space is private aside from things involving safety.

We know it takes time to trust.
