I am a space holder, compassionate witness, boundary-lover and hopeful human. I love teenagers and believe they are insightful change-makers who are creative, intuitive, and independent. With all of their strengths, adolescents can also feel easily overwhelmed, misunderstood, anxious, and alone when trying to understand themselves and how they fit into this world.

My role in working with adolescents is to support them in gaining the confidence to find their voice (i.e. their Self) and to move from this space with purpose and compassion.

The physical space I work hard to provide as a therapist is one that is judgment-free and inclusive. I strive to create an environment where all teens can feel comfortable taking their shoes and their (metaphorical) mask off. I know it takes time to trust. that’s okay.

Together, we will talk and learn about the brain, anxiety, stress & trauma and how it all works so we have a better understanding of its impact on our perception of ourselves, others and the world. Being a human is hard and being a teenager can feel even harder. Because of this, I incorporate expressive modalities into therapy, including art, sand tray therapy and therapeutic journaling into therapy. My job isn’t to make you talk about all the hard stuff; it’s to provide a space for you to learn about yourself - so all the good parts can shine through and the parts that are telling you that you’re not good enough can give you a little more space.

I also believe in the importance of connecting our lived experience to the experience in our physical bodies. After all, feelings are called feelings because we, well, feel them. Learning about how our body process stress, anxiety, trauma and using body-based modalities like yoga, pranayama (deep breathing) and other somatic tools is an integral part of therapy.

I view my role as a therapist as an immense privilege and am inspired every day by the young people whose stories I get the honor to witness and learn.

I am a lover of nature and always find it to be a place where I can come back to myself. I’m also a deep feeler, a wanna-be gardener, a friend, partner and parent. I view myself as imperfect and a person of privilege trying to learn about myself and my place in this big world. I’m a binger of podcasts, sleepy time tea and candy corn (my toxic trait). I love to enjoy good food with great friends, roll out my yoga mat and check out live music in small venues.

COLLABORATIVE

centering the voice of the client as the expert on their lives and lived experience.
working with stakeholders (parents, educators, other providers) to support individual therapy

TRAUMA INFORMED
a whole-brain approach based on the understanding that trauma, chronic stress, grief and institutional oppression impact our brain, body, as well as our perception of ourselves and others.

NON PATHOLOGIZING

a lense that views teens as whole and complete, but recognizes that we all have protective “parts” which can shape our thoughts, feelings and behavior.

SOMATIC
meaning “of the body,” somatic techniques focus on how the body holds emotions & experiences and incorporates techniques to process that which feels “stuck” in the physical body.

my credo.

I believe in your capacity for healing and I believe in your dignity and worth and the value of all human beings. I will view myself as a learner of your world, your culture and your experiences. I will be there for you; I will guide you, but will never push you. I am open, available and willing to listen and learn. I will respect you and your beliefs and the decisions that you make for yourself. I will be non-judgmental and will strive to create a setting which reflects security and comfort.

I will provide you with support along your inner journey to health, healing and peace.
